Passive yapıda zamanı “be” fiili taşır; asıl fiil her zaman V3 hâlinde kalır. Aktif cümlenin nesnesi passive cümlenin öznesi olur.
Passive ne zaman kullanılır?
Eylemi yapanı belirtmek gerekiyorsa “by” kullanılır; gereksizse (by people, by someone) yazılmaz.
- Eylemi yapan bilinmiyorsa: My bike was stolen last night.
- Eylemi yapan önemli değilse ya da herkesçe biliniyorsa: The letters are delivered every morning.
- Resmî, bilimsel ve akademik metinlerde: The samples were analysed in the laboratory.
- Vurguyu eylemin etkilendiği şeye vermek için: The Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo da Vinci.
Dikkat edilecek noktalar
- Nesne almayan fiiller (happen, arrive, die, sleep, occur) passive olmaz: “The accident was happened” yanlıştır; doğrusu “The accident happened.”
- İki nesneli fiillerde (give, send, offer, show) iki passive mümkündür: I was given a book. / A book was given to me.
- Gündelik dilde “get” ile de passive kurulur: My phone got broken.
- Passive’de V3 yerine V2 kullanmak en sık hatadır: “was wrote” değil “was written”.

say, believe, think, report, know, expect gibi fiillerle iki tür kişisiz passive kurulur: “It is believed that the painting is fake.” ya da “The painting is believed to be fake.”
Olay söylenme anından önce olduysa “to have + V3” kullanılır: “The suspect is believed to have left the country.” (Şüphelinin ülkeyi terk etmiş olduğuna inanılıyor.) Bu yapı YDS, YÖKDİL ve YDT’de sık çıkar.

Doğru cevap: has been closed. since + süren durum ve müze kendini kapatmaz → Present Perfect passive: has been closed.

Doğru cevap: is reported. Kişisiz passive: It is reported that…

Doğru cevap: to have left. Olay (geçen hafta) inanma anından önce → to have + V3: to have left.

Doğru cevap: were being copied. O anda süren ve belgelerin kendisinin yapmadığı eylem → Past Continuous passive: were being copied.
Passive Voice hakkında sorular
Hayır. Yalnızca nesne alan (geçişli) fiiller passive olur. happen, arrive, die, occur, sleep gibi nesne almayan fiillerin passive hâli yoktur: “The accident happened”, “The accident was happened” değil.
Eylemi yapanı söylemek anlam katıyorsa: “This book was written by Orhan Pamuk.” Yapan belli değilse ya da önemsizse (by someone, by people) “by” kısmı yazılmaz.
Anlam aynıdır, yapı farklıdır: “It is said that he is rich.” = “He is said to be rich.” İkinci yapıda olay daha önce olduysa “to have + V3” kullanılır: “He is said to have been rich.”
Türkçedeki edilgen çatıya (-ıl, -ın ekleri): “The window was broken” → “Pencere kırıldı.” Türkçede yapan genellikle söylenmez; İngilizcede de “by” kısmı çoğu zaman yazılmaz.
